Verruca/Wart Treatment

At our clinic, We offer advanced treatments for verruca /warts using Verrutop and Verruca Needling. Our professional team prioritizes your well-being, providing effective solutions for clear and healthy skin.

Verruca: It is caused by virus infection of the outer layer of the skin called human papilloma virus (HPV). It can be on the plantar surface of your feet or your toes might be asymptomatic or uncomfortable if they are on weight- bearing surfaces. Sometimes, verruca can be resolved without treatment, or by using over the counter medicine, however sometimes the treatment might be unsuccessful. Some verruca can be very stubborn they might need stronger medication which can be provided by podiatrist.

Verrutop

is a treatment designed for verruca, which are also known as plantar warts. It's a topical solution based on a combination of organic acids, copper and zinc salts, and nitric acid. It works by causing the wart tissue to mummify and desiccate, disrupting viral replication and leading to cell death.

Important Considerations:

Verrutop  should only be used by qualified medical professionals.

It's typically used for smaller, raised verruca/warts on the top of the foot or toes.

It's not suitable for large or long-standing verrucae.

Most individuals require 3-6 treatments, spaced 1-2 weeks apart.

Verrutop is not a guaranteed solution, with success rates typically between 80-90%.

Verrutop is generally considered to be effective and causes minimal pain during application, though some patients might experience mild discomfort or a slight burning sensation when it's applied.

Is it safe?

Verrutop is considered safe when applied by a healthcare professional, but like any treatment, it can cause side effects like redness, swelling, or irritation of the surrounding skin. It’s essential to follow aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing.

Verruca Needling

There is not definite cure for verruca, verruca needling is a treatment options that have been used for stuborn verruca, it has a higher success rate than other verruca treatments

Verruca needling involves the use of local anaesthesia to numb the area surrounding the verruca or ankle block to numb the area below your ankle. Once the area is fully numbed, the site is punctured multiple times with a sterile needle. This process helps introduce the virus to a deeper layer of the skin, which may stimulate your immune response and your body’s white blood cells to attack the virus.

After the procedure, a sterile dressing will be applied to the treatment area. You may experience some pain, soreness, or bruising for a few days following the procedure.

Before Your Appointment
It is important to eat something prior to your appointment to reduce the risk of feeling faint during the administration of local anaesthesia.

After the procedure

After the anaesthetic wears off, you may take pain relief such as paracetamol if needed. Do not take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen, as they may interfere with the desired immune response.

  • Rest your foot for the first few hours to prevent bleeding

  • Most patients can return to work the day after the procedure.

  • Keep the dressing clean and dry until your follow-up appointment (typically 7 days post-procedure).

  • Avoid long-distance walking or running  or over activities during the first week of recovery.

  • If you have a condition that affects your immune system, the effectiveness of the treatment may be reduced.
